Couples culinary retreat with Sankofa

A Palate For Love: The Couples Retreat

4 NIGHTS, 5 DAYS • AUGUST 28 - SEPTEMBER 1, 2024

We always hear that “relationships are work” but we often forget that being in a couple should also be fun! A Palate For Love: The couples retreat is designed to allow romantic partners the space to enjoy each other while learning how to love intentionally. On a beautiful private island in Belize, enjoy various couple enrichment workshops and a romantic getaway in paradise. Dr. Racine R. Henry, founder of Sankofa Marriage & Family Therapy, PLLC, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 13 years of experience working with couples and has been featured as a leader in couples therapy in publications such as The New York Times, CBS Sunday Morning, and The Oprah Magazine. She has developed a unique approach to treating couples called Integrative Culinary Therapy, which increases intimacy through an awareness of cultural values and cooking together. Attendees will engage in an Integrative Culinary Therapy workshop, group discussion sessions, sex therapy/tantric healing exercises, and Belizean cultural activities. While A Palate For Love is intended to improve relationship satisfaction and increase happiness, it is not a replacement for couples therapy nor are attendees required to share private or vulnerable information. Couples will not be engaging in one-on-one therapy and the workshops are not intensive in nature. The goal is to use the 5 days/4 nights away from work, kids, and responsibilities to focus on learning new ways to attend to what your relationship needs in a beautiful, serene environment. Attendees will return home with action-oriented skills that can be implemented every day. A Palate For Love is ideal for couples of any race, faith, orientation, or age, long term daters, newlyweds, empty nesters, couples preparing for marriage, cohabiting couples, consensually non-monogamous partners, polyamorous partners, interracial couples, couples currently in therapy and couples who have no intention of seeking couples therapy. This retreat CANNOT accommodate couples with current intimate partner violence, couples in high distress/conflict, couples where any partners are addicted to substances, have severe mental health diagnoses/illnesses, or any kind of compulsive disorder.
